I've bought the Acer Aspire M1640-E2180 out of an urgent need. The computer I usually used had a virus breakdown and I needed a machine to resane the older comp's HD. After I succeeded in cleaning my older (and more powerful XP Pro) computer, I hung up the M1640-E2180 onto my LCD TV in the living room to be used as the family computer. It works impeccable, cost very little (276 Us dollars with a Vista Home Premium OEM Os, at request in Italian) and I started to use it for little 3D-rendering jobs which were done even quicker than on my "niftier" XP-Pro machine. Then I started to put 4 Gb of Ram and now I find myself the same ammount of time working in my living room as in my actual studio, to the joy of my wife, who sees me around a bit more. :-) I just added a Leopard boot disk and it works just fine. That Acer is definitely a good choice and a medium upgradable computer. I usually assembled my computers on my own, but couldn't have done it, this time, beating the price of the M1640-E2180. Vista, though, for an XP-Pro user is an OS one must get used to. It had a lot of of flaws that only due to constant MS corporate upgrades got , by the end, soothened. MS should throw on the market a half-refined product.
